Festsaal Mariabrunn: The Historical Event Location in Vienna - Austria Mariabrunn in Vienna was Imperial Church and religious centre of the Imperial hunting and forestry staff. The former monastery and novice house of Order of the Barefoot Augustinians, famous both for its history and architecture, was founded in 1639 and soon became a popular pilgrimage site for Vienna and its surroundings. By decree of 8 July 1874, the Imperial and Royal Forestry Experiment Directorate was founded by the former Agricultural Ministry of Austria and renamed later on into Imperial and Forestry Experiment Station of Mariabrunn. The Institute was renamed several times. Effective 1 January 2005, it became the Federal Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape (BFW). Between 1988 and 1994, the historical building was completely restored to its original condition. After 1736 the former summer refrectory of the Barefoot Augustinian was lavishly decorated by the monks with stucco work, thus harmonizing Baroque beauty with Augustinian simplicity. The huge windows, the view into the (monastery) courtyards, the reflects of the light by day and the lighting by night make the room a feast both for the eyes and the soul. The representative and exclusive Baroque ambience of the former summer refrectory, now the ballroom of Mariabrunn, will give every event a distinctive character. Therefore, it was decided to make the historical premises accessible as an event location for private festivities.
